It is in men as in soils where sometimes there is a vein of gold which the owner knows not of, and in your nature, there lies hidden rich mines of thought and purpose awaiting your development

by placing colored felt-tip pens in the pockets of the dress its appearance changes over time. within an hour - to one and a half hours the colored ink bleeds into the fabric and creates a one-off design for each occasion. the owner can then clean the dress and color it in a different way for each time they wear it."

"The results of an extensive exploration with shadows, the One Day Poem Pavilion demonstrates the poetic, transitory, site-sensitive and time-based nature of light and shadow. Using a complex array of perforations, the pavilion’s surface allows light to pass through creating shifting patterns, which–during specific times of the year–transform into the legible text of a poem. The specific arrangements of the perforations reveal different shadow-poems according to the solar calendar: a theme of new-life during the summer solstice, a reflection on the passing of time at the period of the winter solstice. The time-based nature of the poem–and the visitor’s time-based encounters with it–allow viewers to have different experiences either seeing a stanza of the poem or getting the whole poem. All of these possible experiences are equally valuable and have meanings unique to the individual. This technique has the potential for producing particular effects and meanings within an architectural environment. Without the use of a source of power other than the sun, this project uses light and shadow to push the boundaries of communication and experiential delight." -One Day Poem Pavilion by Jiyeon Song

"The project 'Come Rain or Shine' is comprised of two products; walls and floors in wood, and tiles of felt in plaster or concrete.
They both work in conjunction with the natural elements - allowing nature itself to bring pattern and decoration to exterior or interior surfaces.
Through employing the effects of nature as a means to mark a surface, the potential for the natural elements is facilitated to play a part in creating decoration - this results in organic embellishment without harm to the environment.
This work lends itself both to exterior walls where they have exposure to the outdoors enabling the patterns to evolve over time, or pre-weathered decorative surfaces as a feature within the interior."

"THE THING is a quarterly periodical in the form of an object. Each year, four artists, writers, musicians or filmmakers are invited by the editors ( Jonn Herschend and Will Rogan ) to create an everyday object that somehow incorporates text. This object will be reproduced and hand wrapped in brown paper packaging by the editors and then mailed to the homes of the subscribers with the help of the United States Postal Service.
THE THING’s current year of subscriptions ( issues 1-4 ) will begin in August with a project by the performance artist and filmmaker Miranda July, whose first feature length film, Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005), won a special jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival and four prizes at the Cannes Film Festival, including the Camera d’Or. The subscription year will continue with projects by visual artists Anne Walsh, Kota Ezawa, and Trisha Donnelly."

“I’m through with editing down the world. My work represents a new process of design for the basic purpose of trying to understand the emotive
complexity of people, the meaning of our manufactured environment, and its material consequences”.
